New Legislation Targets ‘Zombie’ Homes in New York

Some are calling it a step toward making the “zombie” problem better.

New state legislation, passed in the early hours of Saturday morning, has to do with homes that have become so-called zombie properties — empty houses stuck in sometimes-lengthy foreclosure and prone to falling into disrepair.

The legislation, according to state elected officials who led and supported its passage, includes:

CRA Goals Are the Casualty of CIT-OneWest Merger

If ever there were a poster child for the importance of regulators enforcing the Community Reinvestment Act, it was the merger of CIT Group and OneWest Bank. Both banks had troubled histories and their proposed merger was the first time a “systemically important financial institution” would be created by a bank merger. However, in reality, the role the regulators have played has been deeply disappointing.

CFPB issues warning to mortgage servicers: You can’t hide behind bad computer systems

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau just fired a shot across the bow of the country’s mortgage servicers after it found that some servicers are using outdated computer systems that could run them afoul of CFPB rules. “Mortgage servicers can’t hide behind their bad computer systems or outdated technology,” said CFPB Director Richard Cordray. “There are no excuses for not following federal rules.”

How To Have Productive (Even Pleasant!) Design Discussions with Your Partner

Danielle & Mark’s Modern & Laid-Back West End Loft

A while back, my partner proposed installing a floor-to-ceiling tree decal on our bedroom wall. Looking around, you take in your surroundings and say to yourself “Man, how lucky am I to have this outdoor space?”

What buyers and sellers need to know about septic systems – News

As they prepared to put their Wyckoff home on the market, Dawn and Richard Schollin followed their real estate agent’s advice to have the septic system inspected. Bad news: Under state rules, the system was obsolete and had to be replaced — an undertaking that tore up the Schollins’ front and rear yards and took more than 10 weeks. It wasn’t cheap, either. “By the time we were done, it cost us $35,000,” said Dawn Schollin, a retired school media specialist.

Name: Colton ( 6 months)
Location: Las Vegas, Nevada

I created my nursery after I was inspired by my babymoon vacation to Alaska. When you are pregnant in Las Vegas in the summer a cooler Alaskan vacation is more than welcome. A picture I took of Mt. Denali at sunset was the inspiration to paint an ombre mountain range on all of the walls of the nursery.
